Programme Details:

I. Orientation Course for Engineering Graduates and Science Postgraduates (OCES-2018): This is a one-year programme conducted at the five BARC Training Schools situated at Mumbai, Kalpakkam, Indore and Hyderabad. 

II. DAE Graduate Fellowship Scheme for Eng. Graduates & Physics Postgraduates (DGFS-2018): This is a two-year program where Engineering Graduates & Physics Postgraduates who have excelled in the Selection Interviews for the BARC Training Schools’ Programs and who have also independently secured admission for M. Tech./M. Chem. Eng. in select Institutes/specializations as specified, are paid stipend and tuition fee to pursue a M. Tech. / M. Chem. Eng. degree while retaining their employment in DAE 

Eligibility Criteria for BARC Trainee Scientific Officer (TSO) Posts Recruitment 2019

Educational Qualification:

B.E. / B.Tech. / B.Sc. (Engineering) / 5-year Integrated M.Tech. with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks. Applicants opting to be considered on the basis of a GATE Score must have a valid GATE-2018 or GATE-2019 Score in the same engineering discipline as the qualifying degree discipline. Qualifying degree in branches like Aerospace, Automobile, Industrial Production, Reliability, Ceramics, Architecture, Geology, Mining, Bio-Medical Electronics/ Instruments,Communication, Information Technology, Master of Computer Applications, Dyes & Dye Intermediates, Electrochemical, Energy Systems, Oils & Fats, Paints & Varnishes, Petrochemicals, Plastics, Paper, Sugar Technology, Textiles, Mechatronics, etc. are not eligible. Candidates awaiting final results and/or due to appear for GATE-2019 may also apply

General Category: 26 Years
OBC: 29 years
SC/ST: 31 years
Dependents of those who died in the riots of 1984 (Dep 1984): 31 years
Persons domiciled in Kashmir Division of Jammu & Kashmir State from 01/01/1980 to 31/12/1989 (Dom Kashmir): 31 years

Note: Physically Challenged persons of all categories are eligible for age relaxation of 10 years. Applicant must be a citizen of India.

Eligible Disciplines: 

Engineering Discipline: Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Science Engineering , Nuclear Engineering, Civil Engineering, Instrumentation Engg.

Science Disciplines: Physics, Chemistry, Biosciences,Radiological Safety, Geology, Geophysics 

Application Fee:

General and OBC categories (Male candidates): ₹ 500 
Woman candidates, candidates belonging to SC/ST, Dependents of Defence Personnel Killed in Action (DODPKA) and Physically Challenged candidates are exempted from payment of Application Fee.

Selection Procedure:

Candidates will be selected on the basis of Online Exam/GATE score followed by Personal Interview. Candidates can choose any one or both of the above screening options to maximize their chances of selection and for the detail procedure of each of these two methods check official notification.

Online Examination:

Online Examination will be conducted in March-April, 2019 in each of the nine Engineering disciplines and five Science disciplines. Candidates appearing for the BARC Online Examination will be awarded a BARC Online Examination Score. Candidates for Selection Interview will be based on this Online Examination Score

GATE 2019/2018 score:

Candidates will be screened in for Selection Interview on the basis of a valid GATE2018 or GATE-2019 score in the applicable GATE subject.

Selection Interviews:

Selection Interviews of short-listed candidates will be conducted in Mumbai (in all disciplines except Geology and Geophysics) and Hyderabad (in Geology and Geophysics).
Outstation applicants will be paid two-way normal AC-III tier train fare, from their registered residential address, by shortest route or actual fare whichever is less.
