PCRA Painting, Essay Writing, Quiz Competitions for School Children 2017 Guidelines: Petroleum Conservation Research Association invites children of Recognized Schools within India, affiliated to All Boards, Central or State, for a National Level Painting & Essay writing competition. PCRA is a registered society under the aegis of Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) Painting, Essay Writing, Quiz Competitions:

Education Campaign is used by PCRA as a communication tool to create mass awareness on efficient utilization of Energy Resources using various modes of communication. Print advertisement, TV, Radio, Digital Media, Internet, Website, Transport workshops, Nukkad Natak, Driver Training Programs, Safety and conservation workshops, LPG clinics, Walkathons and organization of Essay and Painting competitions in schools, are an endeavour in this direction. PCRA has developed various tips for fuel conservation in all sectors and the same are available on PCRA

National Level Essay writing, Painting, Quiz Competitions for School Children 2017 -PCRA Prizes

A. Painting Competition:....

School Level Painting Competition 2015 to be conducted by the School, for students of 6th, 7th,8th and 9th for a duration of two hours. Schools are requested to advertise the topic for the Painting competition in advance, so as to enable the children to obtain information on fuel conservation from various sources. They may also visit PCRA website www.pcra.org.

1. Only schools in India recognized by Central & State Boards of India, can participate.
2. It is mandatory for the Schools to conduct the competition during school hours in a fair manner (Principal’s certificate is mandatory).
3. Eligibility: Two categories:
Students of classes 5 – 7 (Junior)
Students of classes 8 – 10 (Senior)
4. School can conduct competitions in any one or both the categories. However, a minimum of 30 students must participate in each category in which the school submits its entry.
5. Use only A3 size art sheet. The work may be executed using pencils, pencil colours, crayons, water colours etc. Use of Collage/Patchwork is not permitted in the paintings at all levels of competition.
6. Topic : ‘Small Steps of fuel conservation can make a big change’
7. Time Limit: 2 Hours
8. School is required to evaluate the entries for each category, and upload best two entries in each category (Junior/Senior), in which the competition has been conducted at the school, on www.pcracompetitions.org For more details, please refer to this portal.
9. Competition Period: 15.07.2017 to 15.09.2017. Last entry on 15.09.2017.
10. The topic of painting competition may be displayed prominently, at least a week in advance.
11. Schools can advise students to prepare in advance for the scheduled competition. This shall enable the participants to obtain relevant information from various sources. This exercise is focused on increasing awareness in young minds for the National cause of Conservation of Fuel and Environment protection.
12. It is advisable that the documentary on PCRA, which gives a brief on ‘Conservation of Fuel’ is shown to the children before the start of the competition. This is available on our website www.pcra.org
13. The students whose paintings are adjudged in the best 100 paintings in each category, on All India basis, will be invited to participate in a National Final round at Delhi. PCRA shall bear the expenses of travel, and the best 100 in each category shall be advised on the same.

Important Guidelines for Painting Competitions:

1. The decision of the Jury/Expert committee will be final and binding in respect of all matters concerning the competition.
2. The painting entries submitted would be the sole property of PCRA, with rights to use and right to edit for any purpose it considers appropriate.
3. Children of employees of PCRA are not eligible for the prizes.
4. Schools should try to hold the competitions as early as possible to avoid last minute rush in submission.
5. The final results shall be announced in December 2017. The awards will be distributed during the Saksham month period 16.01.18 to 15.02.18.

The children can use Pencils, Pencil Colours, Crayons, WaterColours etc. The children may consider the following points while painting:
i. Relevance of the theme depicting the topic.
ii. Execution of concept/theme.
iii. Overall visual appeal, handling of given space and use of appropriate colour combination.
Students must use A3 size drawing sheet only. On top of the Drawing Sheet, students should mention.

#Awards and Amount:
I. First Prize: Rs 30,000/- and a laptop plus an all- expense paid Study trip to Japan
II. Second Prize: Rs20,000/- and a TAB
III. Third Prize: Rs 12,500/- and a TAB
IV. Special appreciation: Rs. 5,000/- each to the next 10 best Paintings.
Besides above prizes, a certificate of Appreciation will be awarded to the Best Entry of each School.

B. Essay Competitions:.......

School Level Essay Writing Competition 2017 to be conducted by the School, for the students of 6th, 7th, 8th & 9th for one hour duration. Schools are requested to advertise/publicize the topics for the competition to the participants in advance, so as to enable the children to obtain information on fuel conservation from various sources. They may also visit PCRA website www.pcra.org. Weightage shall be given more to content, innovative/ unique ideas on conservation of Petroleum fuels.

1. Only schools in India recognized by Central & State Boards of India, can participate.
2. It is mandatory for the Schools to conduct the competition in school premises in a fair manner. It is requested that all eligible (maximum number of) students take part in this competition, as this is in National interest.
3. Schools to conduct Essay competition in one or more of the following languages- Hindi, English, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarat, Kannada, Kashmiri, Konkani, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Oriya, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Sindhi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, Maithili, Dogri, Nepali, Bodo and Santhali.
Eligibility: Students of classes 7, 8, 9 & 10.
4. One student can participate in only one language.
5. Essay should not exceed 700 words.
6. Student must submit essay in his/her own handwriting.

Important Guidelines for Essay Competitions:

1. The decision of the Jury/Expert committee will be final and binding in respect of all matters concerning the competition.
2. Plagiarism will lead to cancellation of entry.
3. In case the participation in a particular language is very low, the prize winning entries shall be evaluated by an expert/ jury, appointed by PCRA. If the best entries do not conform to the general standard of entries in other languages, PCRA reserves its right to rationalize the prizes for that particular language. The decision of PCRA in this regard will be final and binding.
4. The essay & painting entries submitted would be the sole property of PCRA, with rights to use and right to edit for any purpose it considers appropriate.
5. Children of employees of PCRA are not eligible for the prizes.

C. Quiz Competitions:....

1. Only schools in India recognized by Central & State Boards of India, can participate.
2. This competition shall be conducted only online through web portal www.pcracompetitions.org and mobile application PCRA-Competitions available on Android/Windows/IOS Platform to participate. A minimum of 30 students must be registered by the school, for becoming eligible to form a school team for next round.
3. It is mandatory for the Schools to conduct the competitions in school premises in a fair manner. It is requested that all eligible (maximum number of) students take the online quiz, as it will add to their knowledge and is in National interest.
4. Eligibility: Students of classes 8 – 10.
5. Questions shall pertain to Agriculture, Conservation, Petroleum, Environment, Transport, General Studies and other categories.
6. The schools shall register the names of all Students against the school ID on the portal www.pcracompetitions.org and all the students can then participate as Individuals in First Round.
7. Each student shall be given a time limit of 10 minutes to attempt the quiz of 10 questions.
8. Software will select the two best scoring participants, who will form the School team.
9. The School team (two best scoring participants) shall then participant in the second round or District level round, by logging in the portal, in school premises itself. This round will have 15 questions with a me limit of 10 minutes. The last date for participant at District level is 15th Sep. 2017.
10. The best school team (winner) at District level shall be informed by email by PCRA. This team shall participate in third round by logging in the portal, in school premises itself, to compete for becoming State Level Winners. This round will have 30 questions with a me limit of 15 minutes
The window for State level shall open on 20th.Sep 2017. The last date for participating at State level is 27th. Sep 2017.
11. The State Level winners (school team) shall participate in offline Zonal Rounds for deciding the Zonal Finalists. These finalists shall be invited for Zonal round. The date and venue shall be advised by Email to the schools.
12. The Zonal Finalists will be invited to participate at the National Finals PCRA shall bear expenses of travel and winners shall be communicated about the same.
13. Competition Period:15.07.2017 to 15.09.2017 for online Quiz competition upto District level only.

2. Children of employees of PCRA are not eligible for the prizes.
3. Schools should try to hold the competitions as early as possible to avoid last minute rush.
4. The final results shall be announced in December 2017. The awards will be distributed during the Saksham month period 16.01.18 to 15.02.18.

Note: 
1. Only schools in India recognized by Central & State Boards of India, can participate.
2. It is mandatory for the Schools to conduct the competition during school hours in a fair manner (Principal’s certificate is mandatory for Essay & Painting Competitions).
3. Schools should try to hold the competition as early as possible to avoid last minute rush in submission.
4. On registration, the school will be issued a unique userID and password as displayed in the screen. The school should retain its password in safe custody, for use, as and when the school needs to access the portal. Entries put in from school ID will be treated as final, and deemed to be input in a fair manner.

D. Quiz For Individual Students:......................

1. Any child can participate.
2. This competition shall be conducted only online through this web portal www.pcracompetitions.org and mobile application PCRA-Competitions available on Android/Windows/IOS Platform.
3. Child to register online and upload scan copy or photo of I-card of school / certificate of Principal / Aadhar Card / Class 10th Certificate. An activation link will be sent to his/her email ID for participation.
4. Eligibility: Students of age 13-17 years (students born on or after 01.04.2000 and on or before 31.03.2004).
A, First Level Quiz will have 10 questions with a time limit of 10 minutes.
If the child answers 6 or more correctly, an online certificate of proficiency (Bronze Level) is issued to his/her registered email ID, and can be downloaded from the portal itself. The second window shall open on qualifying the first level.
B. Second Level Quiz will have 15 questions with a time limit of 10 minutes.
Second Level Quiz will have 15 questions with a me limit of 10 minutes. If the child answers 10 or more correctly, an online certificate of proficiency (Silver Level) is issued to his/her registered email ID, and can be downloaded from the portal itself. He/she becomes eligible for Final level.
C. Final Level Quiz will have 30 questions with a time limit of 15 minutes.
Final Level Quiz will have 30 questions with a me limit of 15 minutes. If the child answers 25 or more correctly, an online certificate of proficiency (Gold Level) is issued to his/her registered email ID and can be downloaded from the portal itself.

5. Questions shall pertain to Agriculture, Conservation, Environment, Energy & Fuel, Transport, General Studies and other categories.
6. Competition Period: 15.07.17 – 15.01.18
7. First Level Quiz will have 10 questions with a time limit of 10 minutes.
8. If the child answers 6 or more correctly, an online certificate of proficiency (Bronze Level) is issued to his/her registered email ID, and can be downloaded from the portal itself. The second window shall open on qualifying the first level.
