The Director of School Education, Telangana, Hyderabad vide references 2nd read above has submitted proposal for issuing Orders for the enhancement of the Cooking Cost under National Programme of Mid Day Meal Scheme for Primary and Upper Primary Schools w.f. 01.07.2016 as per the GoI norms and Orders for the enhancement of the Cooking Cost from Rs.6.78/- to 8.18/- w.e.f. 01.07.2016 as the State Share for providing Mid Day Meals for Classes IX and X as follows:-

After careful examination of the proposal Government hereby enhance the Cooking Cost from Rs.4.86 to Rs.6.13 for Primary Schools and Rs.6.78 to Rs.8.18 for Upper Primary Schools as agreed by the Government of India and Cooking Cost from Rs.6.78/- to 8.18/- for Classes IX & X on par with the Upper Primary Classes w.f. 01.07.2016.
Note on Implementation of National Nutritional Programme (MDM) in the State:
- Government of India launched the scheme in January 2003 for the children. Studying in Primary schools (Classes I to V).
- Extended to Upper Primary schools (Classes VI to VIII) in October, 2008.
- Further extended to the children studying in centres under National Child Labour Project (NCLP) from the Academic Year of 2010-11.
- To improve the nutritional and health standard of the growing children.
- Elimination of class-room hunger.
- Increase in enrolment, more significantly of girls.
- Improve in daily attendance particularly of girls and children from poorer sections.
- To reduce drop-outs.
- Socializing among castes and empower women employment.
State Government Initiatives:
- Extended to High schools (Classes IX to X) also in October, 2008 with 100% state funds.
- Egg/ Banana is provided thrice a week by the State Government.
- With an intention to provide quality food, Mid Day meals is being served with Super Fine Rice to all the students in the state. w. e f., 01.01.2015 onwards.
For AP: MDM Scheme Cooking Cost New Rates From 01-07-2016 for AP Schools

In the reference 1st read above, Ministry of HRD, Department of school Education & Literacy, Government of India have increased the cooking cost for 2016-17 @ 7% over and above the cooking cost for the year 2014-15 for Primary and Upper Primary Schools. w.e.f 1/7/2016.
2. In the reference 2nd read above, the Commissioner and Director of School Education, A.P., Hyderabad has requested the Government to issue orders for enhancement of cooking cost under National Programme of Mid Day Meal Scheme w.e.f 1/7/2016 from Rs.4.86/- to Rs.5.13/- for Primary Schools and Rs.6.78/- to Rs. 7.18/- for Upper Primary Schools as per GOI norms. She has also requested to enhance the cooking cost for classes IX & X th from Rs.6.38/- to Rs. 7.18/- as 100% State share.
3. Government, after careful examination of the proposal, hereby enhance the existing Cooking cost by 7% over and above the rates of the previous year 2015- 16 for Primary Schools, Upper Primary Schools and High Schools w.e.f. 1/7/2016 is as below:(Amount in rupees)
4. For classes IX & Xth, Government also here by enhance the Cooking cost from Rs.6.78 to Rs. 7.18 w.e.f 1/7/2016 as a (100%) State share for providing Mid Day Meals.
